02 Mar The Red House with a Hint of White
Padstow got a bit of a shock this week – it snowed. Just as the crocuses, rhododendrons, hydrangea, and narcissus were beginning to show their spring blooms after what everyone agrees has been an interminable winter the weather turned upside down covering The Red House, Padstow and the entire Camel Estuary, and far into the distance, with a blanket of snow. Within minutes boogie boards were transformed into sleds, and snowmen appeared in front gardens. As I write the spring flowers appear sadly depleted, and Kim has been busy trying to keep the birds fed and watered. We think The Red House looks rather handsome in the snow, almost Dickensian. Yet for all the frosty prettiness we’re looking forward to the weather sorting itself out and allowing spring work to its long overdue magic.
